Tested by the builder: I unlocked a 60-page user-password PDF and a print-restricted owner-password file — both decrypted in the browser with byte-identical content, and a batch of three files processed with per-file toggles plus a single ZIP download. A wrong password fails only that file (Reprocess retries it alone). You must know a password; the tool cannot crack or recover forgotten ones.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Everything runs 100% in your browser using pdf-lib. Your encrypted PDF never leaves your device — no upload, no server, no signup.
AFFLIGO can unlock PDFs when you know the user or owner password. It cannot recover a forgotten open (user) password, because that password protects the encrypted file data.
The user (open) password is required to open the PDF. The owner (permissions) password restricts editing, printing and copying. AFFLIGO's unlock tool removes owner restrictions.
There is no fixed size cap — add as many files as you need. Files process one by one and all processing happens instantly in your browser.
No. Unlocking only removes the security restrictions. The text, images and layout of your PDF remain exactly the same.
Upload the PDF and unlock it — print, copy, and edit restrictions are stripped from the output file. If the PDF opens without asking for a password, restrictions lift without entering anything.
Yes. Open this page in Chrome or Safari on Android or iPhone — no app needed. Upload from your files, enter the password if asked, and download the unlocked PDF. Everything runs in your mobile browser.
Unlock the file first (enter the current password if one is required), then set a new password with our Protect PDF tool. The two tools are designed to work together for password changes.
The single password box is tried on every queued file, so same-password batches unlock together. Files with a different password fail individually — re-queue them separately with their own password. There is no batch limit.
Only that file is marked Failed — the rest of the batch is unaffected. Fix it with the per-file Reprocess button and run again. And to be blunt: if you don't know any password for the file, this tool cannot help — there is no brute-force or recovery.
